LA PASIVA IMPERSONAL
Suele tener la siguiente estructura
It + is known/said/believed/thought (passive reporting verb) + that -clause
Subject + passive reporting verb + to infinitive
Ejemplo:
It is thought that he left jail.
He is thought to have left jail.
It is known that he likes good food.
He is known to like good food.

LA ESTRUCTURA CAUSATIVA: have/get + objeto + participio
Esta estructura la usamos para referirnos a los servicios que alguien desempeña para nosotros, en calidad de clientes.
- I'm having my hair cut this afternoon.
- I had my house painted last summer.
VERBOS DE DOBLE COMPLEMENTO
Estos verbos tienen complemento directo e indirecto. En inglés es más habitual escoger el CI para convertirlo en el sujeto de la oración pasiva. Es decir, en una oración como
I sent Penélope the invitation
lo normal será...
Penélope was sent the invitation
Aunque también se podrá aceptar la estructura habitual. Ojo, porque en ese caso habrá que añadir la preposición TO al complemento indirecto.
The invitation was sent to Penélope

Transforma las siguientes oraciones a pasiva.
- They sell newspapers here. Newspapers are sold here.
- You must clean the room. The room must be cleaned.
- Are they preparing the meal? Is the meal being prepared?
- Did anybody bring the parcel? Was the parcel brought?
- Have they explained the problem? Has the problem been explained?
- Nobody could understand the question. The question couldn't be understood.
- You should make the sandwiches just before we leave. The sandwiches should be made just before we leave.
- Henry Moore carved this sculpture. This sculpture was carved by Henry Moore.
- The police are arresting the criminals. The criminals are being arrested.

LA VOZ PASIVA
¿Cómo transformar una oración de activa a pasiva?
En este tipo de oraciones tenemos que mover ciertos elementos de su sitio. En la siguiente oración
Cervantes wrote Don Quixote.
Don Quixote, complemento directo de la oración activa, se convierte en el sujeto de la pasiva, y Cervantes, en complemento agente. Por lo que quedará de la siguiente forma:
- Don Quixote was written by Cervantes.
¿Cuándo sé que no tengo que poner el Complemento Agente?
El complemento agente siempre es el sujeto activo y el que realiza la acción del verbo. En inglés es muy corriente omitirlo, sobre todo en los siguientes casos:
- Cuando desconocemos quién es la persona, es decir, cuando aparece un pronombre personal, o las formas someone, everybody, people.
- Cuando se entiende quién realiza la acción. En la oración The post is delivered every day no hace falta que pongamos by the postman.
Ojo: el uso del Complemento Agente en el inglés real siempre viene dado por la importancia que el hablante o el escritor le quiera dar.
En la oración English is spoken by everybody no hemos omitido el agente porque queremos resaltar el hecho de que todo el mundo habla ese idioma.
